About The Crawl
Attention all knitting, crochet, yarn, fiber, weaving and textile art enthusiasts! The San Diego Yarn Crawl is an annual event featuring a free, self-paced, self-guided tour of participating San Diego county yarn stores and alpaca farms. The SDYC will take crawlers from Ramona to Chula Vista and many points in-between! The adventure runs Thursday through Sunday.
You're able to download a free passport and a google map for you to print out. Special edition tote bags are available for purchase at all of the participating locations during the Crawl.
Our Yarn Crawl gives you the unique opportunity to visit both yarn shops and alpaca farms. Prepare for a very unique experience as you get back to the “country” environment and experience two actual San Diego county alpaca ranches, one with a mill that makes yarn. Since you will be visiting the "country" environment, be sure to wear comfortable shoes. Ours is the first west coast yarn crawl to invite local alpaca farms to participate.
During your tour, you can stop and shop at each location for a variety of yarns, needles & accessories. Print out your map to start planning your route along with the full list of events and don't forget your Passport! Each location will have it’s own special events such as visiting designers, book signings, trunks shows, and the like. Crawlers should print out their own yarn crawl passport and bring it along to have it stamped at every store or farm they visit! The stamps help you get entered to win prizes!
Visit at least 3 locations, leave your completed passport there and you will be eligible to enter a drawing for that location's prize basket filled with all kinds of yarn and fiber goodies. In addition, those with passports stamped by all participating locations will be entered to win the Grand Prize of a $50 gift certificate from each location!
