About the Crawl
Attention all knitting, yarn, fiber, weaving and textile art enthusiasts! Join us next year for our 8th annual San Diego Yarn Crawl, September 9th – 12th, 2021! This free, self-paced, self-guided tour of 6 San Diego yarn stores, 2 alpaca farms, and 1 mobile Yarn truck will take crawlers from Ramona to Chula Vista and many points in-between! The adventure runs Thursday through Sunday.
Our San Diego Yarn Crawl web site provides a free passport and a google map for you to print out. Special edition cloth tote bags are available at many of the participating locations for a nominal fee during the Crawl.
Our Yarn Crawl gives you the unique opportunity to visit both yarn shops and alpaca famrs. Prepare for a very unique experience as you get back to the “country” environment and experience two actual San Diego county alpaca ranches, one with a mill that makes yarn. Since you will be visiting the “country” environment, be sure to wear comfortable shoes. This is the first west coast yarn crawl to invite local alpaca farms to participate.
During your tour, you can shop at the 9 locations for a variety of yarns, needles & accessories. Print out your map to start planning your route along with the full list of events and don’t forget your Passport! Each location will have it’s own special events, visiting designers, book signings, trunks shows, etc. Crawlers should print out their own yarn crawl passport and bring it along to have it stamped at every store or farm they visit! The stamps help you get entered to win prizes!
All passports bearing 3 venue stamps and turned in at any of the 9 locations, will be entered to win gift baskets filled with all kinds of yarn and fiber goodies. In addition, those with passports stamped by all 9 locations will be entered to win a $50 gift certificate from each location! That’s $450 worth of gift certificates going to the grand prize winner!
